A caique’s unexpected bath 🚽

Thanks to their caregiver’s swift action, this lovely caique was able to escape a slippery (and potentially fatal) situation.

It may sound surprising, but open toilet bowls can pose a serious drowning risk. Birds that fall in often cannot grip the smooth surface or generate enough lift once wet to escape.

To reduce risk:
• Keep toilet lids closed ✅
• Close bathroom doors when birds are out ✅

If you share your home with birds—or birds visit your space—please spread the word. These simple precautions can prevent a fatal and avoidable accident.
